Carlo Bevilacqua: Into the Silence

This fellow, Mario, lives in a cave outside of Rome. The photo is part of a series called Into the Silence, by Carlo Bevilacqua, which is a study on contemporary hermits--those who live in self-imposed isolation. Bevilacqua says that he sees parallels between the isolation of his subjects and that of photographers, who are at a constant remove. At the LENS blog.
