I went to undergrad with Jesse Kauppila, though I don't think I've ever actually met him. He has some really inspired projects, including a secular confessional in which people can sit and type confessions--kind of like Post Secret--and then another person will type back later with a response from their side of the confessional, and circular copper engravings inspired by Harry Smith's "Remastering the Anthology of American Folk Music." Above are prints made from woven tartan while Kauppila was in Italy. I find the images to be pretty damn gorgeous.
