Ashley Gilbertson: Bedrooms of the Fallen

Bedrooms of the Fallen is a project after my heart. Photographer Ashley Gilbertson created a series of photographs of the preserved bedrooms of men and women who have died in service for the United States. I think the photos achieve what Eudora Welty most envisioned for documentary photography: that it "part a curtain, that invisible shadow that falls between people, the veil of indifference to each other's presence, each other's wonder, each other's human plight."
