A Good Clutter

I've been reading a lot of design blogs lately. Often, these blogs have photos of beautiful, immaculately clean spaces, well-arranged shelves, coordinated patterns. As much as I love simple, beautiful spaces, I also love a good clutter, and this post is an homage to big old beautiful messes. Crackteam has some nice photos of such, including the ones above.

Iowa

My grandmother died last month. I looked through all of her photos, the ones she took with her first camera, back when she was in high school; the ones she and grandpa took of each other posing in front of the house; and the ones of the whole huge family gathered on the farm, bean walking, sledding in the driveway, playing softball out in the cornfields. She had a good eye. More here.

Sandra Juto

Just happened upon the lovely work of Sandra Juto, an illustrator from Sweden. I'm smitten. See more here.

Esra Roise

Esra Roise also has a new website afloat*. Her work is very pop, very alive, and has great texture and composition. The way she does hair is pretty unbeatable.

Carson Ellis

Carson Ellis has a shiny new website up: check it out *. She's one of my longstanding favorites.

Heartbreak Doll

She's such a delightful mix of gangliness and grace. Heartless or heartbroken? I'm getting a kick out of all the art dolls and art toys up on etsy these days. (you can find this one here)
